Somy Ali jetted off to Los Angeles for a work-cum-pleasure trip recently. The actor-turned-humanitarian, who now runs her Miami based NGO ‘No More Tears’, needed some me-time to rejuvenate. She talks about her experience of this visit.
“The biggest win in addition to the holiday is opening up a chapter of my NGO in Los Angeles where human trafficking is highly prevalent. We have worked in LA before, but now it’s official. So, it feels amazing to be able to expand our mission from Florida to California,” she said.
Aside from working nonstop, Somy took “bouts of breaks” in between and enjoyed her time over some good food. “During these breaks, I went to one of the best Indian restaurants in LA called Badmaash. I had pani puri there after almost 20 years and it was so worth it,” she remarks.
“I am overwhelmed with this expansion, but saving lives is my sole motivation whether I am in India, LA or in Miami. We are getting so many emails from victims seeking help in Canada and the US due to our show ‘Flight or Fight’ on Discovery+ and Discovery HD. Things are moving at a very fast pace, but in the right direction,” she adds.
