Gadar 2 has left everyone astonished, even verging on shocked, by the extraordinary reception it’s receiving nationwide. The sequel, led by Sunny Deol, has managed to rake in a staggering Rs 300 crore in just over a week.
The remarkable response that Gadar 2 is enjoying across the country is leaving people astounded. Since its release on August 11, the movie continues to generate substantial revenue at the box office, showing no signs of losing its momentum.
Coincidentally, this week marked the achievement of Rs 300 crore in worldwide collections for “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani,” bringing pride and celebration to the Karan Johar, Ranveer Singh, and Alia Bhatt team.
However, the dominance of Gadar 2 in theaters seems to have overshadowed the attention on this Dharma production. Despite its solo run at the box office for nearly 15 days since its July 28 release, “Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani” didn’t face much competition until the arrival of Gadar 2.
The film directed by Anil Sharma had already created significant buzz with substantial advance bookings, leading to a monumental opening day collection of Rs 40 crore. Even with the simultaneous release of Akshay Kumar’s “OMG 2” on the same day, the thunderous response to Gadar 2 affected OMG 2’s performance to some extent.
Yet, OMG 2 managed to persevere and is expected to gradually cross the Rs 100 crore mark, thanks to word-of-mouth publicity. However, the R.Balki film Ghoomer starring Abhishek Bachchan seems to have been lost somewhere amidst the storm. The ongoing success of Gadar 2 in theaters suggests that it will likely maintain its packed house showings, even when “Jawan,” featuring Shah Rukh Khan and Nayanthara and directed by Atlee, hits theaters on September 7, 2023.
Both Shah Rukh Khan and his production house are dedicatedly working to amplify the hype around “Jawan” through effective marketing strategies. Despite lukewarm responses, particularly for the song “Zinda Banda,” SRK’s immense fan following is eagerly anticipating their beloved superstar’s performance.
Nonetheless, with industry experts forecasting Gadar 2’s trajectory towards the 500 crore milestone, it appears that the sequel might create a substantial dent in the success projections for “Jawan.”
