A 47- years-old man allegedly killed his wife during an argument that arose as she refused to serve him food after both of them had alcohol together.
Later, he slept with the corpse not realizing that she was dead. The next morning, upon realizing he had killed his wife, the man ran off with over Rs 40,000 cash. He was tracked down and arrested by cops from another location in Delhi.
Cops identified the accused as Vinod Kumar Dubey (47), a resident of Sultanpur. Around 9:20 am on Friday a caller informed police that Vinod beat up his 39-years-old wife Sonali and choked her with a pillow during an argument, a senior officer said.
The police inquired the caller and people residing in the area about the accused. A total of Rs 43,280 along with a bag containing his belongings, two liquor bottles and a bloodstained pillow have been recovered from his belongings, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Pawan Kumar said.
Vinod told police that the couple drank alcohol together on Thursday night and when he asked his wife to bring food for him, she refused. This led to an argument between them and his wife slapped him, Vinod said. In a fit of rage, he killed his wife. He was trying to flee Delhi along with the cash but was arrested, cops said.
